Young and the Restless ovarian cancer storyline

They have given the character Lily ovarian cancer, don't know what stage yet.  I hope they get the facts right with it.  I have notice one mistake already, they have given her a 45 percent survial rate without being staged yet.   The actress is also doing a psa at the end of the show directing people to go to cancer.org.  I hope this brings even more attention to our cause and we start seeing more teal instead of just pink everywhere.

They never mention the type of cancer on the show.  I think very early on they only mentioned a hysterectomy.  So I assumed it was a gynecological cancer.  Then last season with the recurrence scare and the site of the biopsies it implied to me a gynecological cancer.  So last night I decided to google Big Love and try to figure out the actual diagnosis.  I found an interview with Bill Paxton and he mentions that Barb had ovarian cancer.

Hi,
I love that show and I didn't realize that Barb had  OVCA. Do we know how she was treated?

We know that Bill's religion encourages them to have more than one wife, he really has his hand full, and the in laws! Oh my!

I have never seen that show but glad they didn't kill her off.   I think we need more survivor stories as well.  Maybe this Sept there will be more awareness for ovarian due to these storylines.

"Big Love" the HBO series has an ovarian cancer story line as well.  Bill, a polygamist, has a wife named Barb.  Barb gets ovarian cancer.  Bill gets Nicolette, a nurse, to help out because Barb's death is thought to be imminent.  Bill marries Nicolette, and then Margene, so he can continue to have more and more children.  But guess what?  Barb doesn't die and now Bill has three wives.

Last season they touched on a recurrence that turned out to be a false alarm.  I was hoping that it would be a bigger part of the story line so that it could raise awareness.
