Hi There,
It is not common practice to biopsy an ovarian cyst without surgery. The risk is that is there are cancer cells inside a cyst, these cells could spread by rupturing the cyst during the biopsy. Therefore , the present standard of care is to remove the cyst of ovarian and try not to rupture the cyst. This is done in a safe, well controlled operative setting by either a small incision (laparoscopy ) or a bigger inside (laparotomy).
best wishes

Hi There,
You ave some sort of growth on your ovary. It is possible that there is more than one cyst in your ovary. Perhaps part of the cyst was a functional cyst. Functional cysts are cysts in the ovary that are related to ovulation. They shrink and resolve. It is possible that part of the cyst that is seen in your ovary is not a functional cyst.
I definitely think the cyst should be removed. I am sure this is very scary for you. Do you have any other information such as a CA 125 blood test result? How old are you? Is there any family history of ovarian cancer?
take care
