ovarian cysts

I first visited my obgyn on Sept. 1, 07 with symptoms such as bloating (stomach is larger than it was during any of my three preg.,  cramping (not just during my period), irr stools, urine becoming more frequent, lower back pain, tired feeling, stomach always filled full and hard.  He first performed an ultra sound that showed a small 3.4 cyst on my left ovary.  Please not my right side is the one that is causing such pain.  My OB sent me to a GI doctor who said I had IB.  the GI  then cut wheat, milk, shell fish, and peanut butter out of my diet.  Cutting out all that food has not caused my stomach to feel or look any more bloated. My OB also ordered an MRI of  lower lumbar to see if there was something wrong with my back.  Had MRI on Oct 8, 07.  MRI showed a 7.2 cm high T2 signal rounded lesion, dorsal to and left lateral of the uterus.  Ovarian Cystic Neplasm not entirely excluded.  Go back to OB and he said that cyst was on my left side and was not there before????  can a cyst suddenly appear and be 7.2 cm  within 1 month????  He has recommended that I have surgery next week to remove the cyst.  But my question, is I have had all these symptoms for about 4 months, so how can a 7.2 cyst cause all these problems or is it???  If they missed the cyst in the ultrasound could they have missed anything else???  Do I need a second opinion before surgery?
Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,

I think it is reasonable to go ahead with your surgery on Tuesday. There is nothing wrong with getting a CA 125 and/ or a PET scan. It is an additional expense. Usually I do get a preop CA 125 test. I usually reserve a PET scan for evaluating for a recurrence when there is  a known diagnosis of cancer.

Ultimately, the answer for what is going on will occur at surgery.

Kimchi - i always enjoy and appreciate your comments.

Dear Ajay  and Rmarie- welcome and thank you for your thoughts

best wishes

From reading all the comments on this forum, I can't believe the number of women who were not diagnosed for OC from the get-go.  All that waste of time, energy, excessive discomfort and pain!!!

Welcome to the group, hope you are not dealing with OC while in Afghanistan.  Have a friend there who has to come to Thailand for his chemo treatments.  What part of India do you hail from? I get my chemo meds from India cause they are a fraction of the cost here.  HAIL to India!!!!

I agree with your Gyn, I don't know wher AJAY has come from all of a sudden, or why he is pushing pet scans with his phone number in India.  Maybe he/she wants us to go there to get them.  The phone code is AFGHANISTAN.

hi staeryler ,

this is ajay ,

please, please do a PET-CT( it is an imaging technique used for very accurate diagnosis of  cancers ) and CA-125 TEST (tumor marker test for ovarian cancer)as soon as possible as your nature of symptoms are very similar with those of ovarian cancer and as you have mentioned as there is some fluid formation in your upper abdomen this as also a sure symptom of ovarian cancer that in  3rd stage . SO PLEASE ACT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS ACTING SOON CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE AS THIS OVARIAN CANCER IS THE SECOND MOST MIS-DIAGONISED DISEASE IN THE WORLD AND IT USUALLY IS DIAGONISED AT AN ADVANCED STAGE AS ITS SYMPTOMS ARE VERY SIMILAR WITH THOSE OF STOMACH UPSET AND IT IS USALLY DIAGONISED  WHEN IT HAD MADE A LARGE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. SO PLEASE ASK YOUR OBGYN TO DO A PET-CT AND A CA-125 TEST ASAP.YOU CAN ALSO REACH ME AT 09391386969 I HAIL FROM INDIA.
