please help mucinous borderline

Hello i would really appreciate your advice on my problem i am having trouble getting answers for.
I was in the emergency dept in extreme pain and after an ultrasound showed a very large cyst on my ovary i was rushed to theatre where i had it drained and removed my right ovary was badly twisted and also removed.
The surgeon told me he also removed a large tumor which was cancer and that he'd refer me to a Gyn oncologist.
The oncologist said the path report said 'mucinous borderline and ordered an ultrasound of my appendix and left ovary, which came back looking normal and he wants to see me in 3mths.He asked to have a copy sent to my Gp. My Gp has referred me to a professor as he said i should have a laparoscopy done to see if there are cells left.
He said that the surgeon who did my laparotomy for the cyst did'nt grade or stage it (i am not sure really what this is.
He also told me he has not mentioned in the report where the tumor was(either on ovary or in cyst).I also had a cyst on my left ovary which the surgeon told me was quite big also that he drained and left there, and this was'nt mentioned in the report either.
My cyst on my right ovary was football size, but i don't know size of the other.
What i would really like to know is what do i do now? Would they treat it if more cells are found?
I feel like i am being left in the dark, not being told much at all. Though it has not helped when there is not much in my report.....Please any information to help me get my head around this i would deeply appreciate!
Many thanks Sharon.... I hope this makes sense as it is so confusing for me.

Hi Sharon
thank you for your complete information.
it sounds like you had an ovarian torsion  This is a condition where an ovary twists around its blood supply and blocks the blood flow to the ovary. That is very painful. If not fixed , the ovary loses its blood supply and becomes gangrenous. That is a surgical emergency.  Torsion commonly occurs when there is something heavy on the ovary such as a cyst or tumor which increases the likelihood of the twisting.

In your case, it was an ovarian tumor.
Tumors that come from the surface lining of the ovaries are called epithelial ovarian tumors or neoplasms.

these tumors are divided into three distinct categories:
benign
borderline
invasive cancer

borderline tumors are slow growing malignancies that are usually cured by complete removal.

It sounds like your doctor is trying to determine if any tumor is left .
To be fair on your surgeon, surgery in an emergency setting is focused on fixing the problem (the torsion) and getting you stable.

In the light of day, one can go back and do more biopsies and testing.
best wishes
