COMPLEX OVARIAN CYST & LUMP ON BREAST

Hi, I am 44yrs old and went to gynacologist today as I had an appointment to see her as I have been  post menopause since May 08 as I had missed two periods back then the doctor did blood test which proved I was post menopause but then I got like a period in July & August again and went back to him he requested me to do an Ultrasound which I did and that showed my left Ovary was enlarged with a volume of 17cc and contains a complex cyst with septated and internal debris. The appearance is abnormal after the menopause. The doctor then referred me to see a gyno which I had been waiting for over a month and went to see her today. The gyno told me today that she needs me to do another u/s as the other u/s shows a volume of 17cc which she says that she need dimensions so this is why she wants me to do another u/s and probably to see if it has grown. She also requested me to do a
CA-125 which I had already done a ca-125 one month prior to seeing her today and that blood test was negative and I had been told by another doctor it is not accurate the ca-125, I am wondering why she wanted another one done when the last one was negative and if it gives inaccurate results why do another one? She did a Cervical Pap Smear for me also and will send that to the labarotory. Then, because I complained my breasts are very sore to touch she decide she will examine them by feeling them when she felt them she found a lump on my left breast measuring she said approx 2cm and now wants me to do a mammogram as well.

This evening when I went to the toilet, to do my No.2 and I wiped myself, my back passage showed fresh blood on the tissue.

I am saying to myself now what is happening to me. As I went to the gyno with one problem with my left ovary and came out of there with two problems, now a lump on my breast. Then this evening went to the toilet and had fresh blood appear on a tissue from my back passage. What do you think about all this?

Please, answer my question and give me your opinion. Is the breast connected somehow with the ovary do you think?

Why I have this 17cc Complex Cyst on my left ovary with septated and internal debris and also a lump on my left breast as well  approx 2cm. Do you think they would be connected somehow with each other? Please give me your opinion what do you think?

I did the Ca-125 blood test today but have to wait til 27th September for another pelvic u/s and mammogram. Then I have an appointment to see the gyno again on the 2nd of October so all results will be back for her to look at and also the cervical pap smear she did for me will be back.

Thanks

Maggie

Hi, about the blood issue...I wondered if it could have been a hemroid?  Either way, I think you should mention it to your GYN.

If you had not had a menstrual cycle for a year at May 08, then I think they consider you to be in menopause.  The sporadic bleeding may be b/c of the cyst causing hormonal fluctuations?  I think it may be a good idea to do a repeat CA test.  It is not a reliable tool for women who are not in menopause and is used more as a marker during chemo but since you are kind of wavering back and forth in the menopause dept. your doctor may want to see if the #'s are fluctuating, too.

I'm so sorry that you are now dealing with 2 very scary issues.  The waiting period is not fun.

Good luck

Have you had a colonoscopy? The blood from you rectum may just be from stress but this is no time to not check.  Call your primary and ask him/her for a referral to get it checked out.  If he/she balks mention the ovary/breast issues.  Also there is a very very rare cancer connection that is genetic between the breast ovary and colon.

Good luck
