Complex Ovarian Cyst

I have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst that covers most of my right ovary, the ultrasounds(regular &transvaginal) can't find my left ovary. What are the risks of having a cyst this big and why can my left one not be found? The nurse practioner didn't seem to care at all about me or the pain I'm going thru or the every two weeks periods I'm having. What can be done for my situtation? I am going for a second opinion, any help will be greatly appreciated!!

HELLO
I HAD SAME PROBLEM .I WENT TO ONCOLOGIST/GYN.HE  TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE POSSIBILITIES THAT MY LEFT OVARY WHICH WAS FULLY COVERED WITH CYST MAY BE REMOVED.AND MY RIGHT OVARY HAS A SMALL CYST,SO ONLY CYST WILL BE REMOVED THERE.BUT HE ENDED UP SAVING MY BOTH OVARIES.HE SAID THAT HE REMOVED SOME TISSUE FROM LEFT OVARY AS WELL.
ABOUT OVARY NOT SEEN IN SONOGRAM..DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT..HAPPENED WITH ME LOTS OF TIMES...
BEST OF LUCK

I am sorry that you are going through all of this.  I am really glad to see that you are going for a second opinion.  I would definatley get in with a gyn, but an oncologist/gyn would be the best (NO I do not think you have cancer, but they have 3 years more training that a regular gyn.  They deal with these types of issues all the time).  I am not sure why the left ovary could not be found.  It sounds like the right ovary may need to come out as the cyst has enveloped it.  Depending on how big the cyst is and if it is adheared to other organs will probably depend on what type of surgery you will have.  Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Hugs,
Kasie
