Just a comment,.. It's very likely you've had cysts in the past and never even were aware of it. I've had two in my life and the first one didn't have a single symptom. Most of the time they just disappear on their own.

Good luck

It depends on what kind of cyst you have and how big it is. Are your cycles normal?  If the cyst is small, your doctor will want to monitor it for a few cycles. If you don't ovulate, the doctor might put you on birth control or something to help you ovulate and hopefully to shrink the cyst down. Is it a functional or a complex cyst? If it continues to grow past 5 cm, your doctor might start considering removing it. The removal of the cyst may be through a laparascopy (small keyhole incisions) or a laparatomy (normal open surgery). It all depends on the type and size of the cyst.  Symptoms may not always be present, but cysts can be a real hassle to deal with.  They may twist on your ovary and cause a lot of pain and discomfort.  Not all women have pain though. Don't worry too much about it either; pain or no pain, small or big cyst, complex or functional, most cysts are benign.
Good luck with everything and I hope it turns out well.
