Do large cysts just go after month's?

Hello everyone! I have a 8cm cyst as of 1-22-10 on my left ovary, was 6cm on 1-16-10.Everyone wants to wait and see if it takes care of itself. I do already know from colon surgery on 12-7-09 my surgeon saw it and did all the right tests and they are all fine. The main reason I've been given the no-go on surgery is that the cyst is located very close my colon that I just had surgery on. Their not to worried it will twist because the colon is kind of keeping it stable, but I am worried it will twist or burst then I'll go from a fairly simple procedure to a major ordeal. I always seem to be that tiny percent that weird things happen to.I go back for another ultrasound this Wednesday,if it's bigger again in a weeks time I wouldn't be surprised. If anyone has had one of this size that just went away please let me know.It is painful at times, and I'm sick of being in pain. Thanks

Yes my gynecologist is on the case now and is conferring with a gynecologist/oncologist.My colon surgeon was able to test the cyst and is all good news.I'll have another ultrasound Wednesday so hopefully it did some shrinking.(fingers crossed)If not I guess we will have to see from there. Thanks for your feedback,it'smuch appreciated.

I can understand them wanting to wait for surgey if your colon is healing from a prior surgery, but I think it is wishful thinking to expect cysts of that size to just go away on their own.  At some point, they are probably going to have to be removed.  They also better have high confidence that those cysts are benign to trust waiting before removing them.

I do not know if you are strictly under the care of the colon surgeon or not.  At this point, you may be in better hands if a gynecologist/oncologist could do the cyst surgery, perhaps with the colon surgeon assisting.  That's assuming a gyn/onc is available in your area.  It is the best choice for this surgery, especially when they are concerned about the health of surrounding organs.

I can feel your pain, as i typed in my post. But I would demand surgery, or get a second opinioin. I too...am the one percent that something bad happens to!! NOT fun...

I understand why they want to wait with you. Are you in pain? Throwing up? If it's stable and your okay maybe wait and week. But if it's not any smaller in a week then they should go in and remove it. Good luck either way and let us know!:) Take care.
