I don't have personal experience with a cyst rupturing but it seems women say they experience pain or worse pain. You would not necessarily bleed.

Virginia - I didn't realize the original post was old and didn't see your post. I have heard both - the BC pills help keep cysts from forming and that they don't. So it may an individual thing... works for some women but not others.

you will know.  it is pain like you have never felt before in your stomach.  its like cramps times 100.  you may also faint or feel light headed. and no you do not bleed in all cases.

It's hard to tell if a cyst bursts or not. Usually it takes some type of ultrasound to tell what has taken place.  Sometimes they twist the ovary and then they untwist.  Either way, the pain can be sudden and really strong.  Much depends on the type of cyst, too.  Cysts associated with endometriosis are more likely to lead to some type of bloody discharge or cysts that have blood filled sections.  I don't think bleeding occurs in all cases. It could also be menstrual flow that is affected by ovary activity and the effect cysts have on hormone levels.
