ovarian cyst and lower back pain

I have been having lower back pain for about 2-3 month now. I went to the Dr thinking the pain was related to a UTI, a urine culture showed blood in the urine so a sonogram was done on my kidneys, pelvis and abdomen. The sono showed one kidney was larger than the other and that I also had a cyst on my right ovary. I had a CT scan and that came back normal for kidneys and they didn't mention anything about the cyst on the ovary. My back pain is in the lower back and is really more like a dull ache. It is uncomfortable in the mornig when I first wake up and i am standing for a while, then my back starts to ache a bit. I am able to work and do my usual daily routine, I'm just a little achey. I still feel like I have pain in the kidney that they originaly thought had the kidney stone. After reading all the stories on here, I think my pain is coming from the cyst. I am making myself sick with worry that there is something seriously wrong with me. I think I should go to my gyno and have him do another pelvic exam, I had one done in January and everything was normal, at the time I was feeling a little bit crampy so they did a trans vaginal sono and everything appeared to be normal. Has anyone found a way to get some relief from this achey back pain? Its so annoying....and I think my family is starting to think I am nuts!! LOL

I have the lower back pain and the twinges in the lower right side pelvic area...ultrasound found cysts on my ovary.

I also experienced serious shoulder and neck pain..went to two docs and they couldnt explain it...searched on the interneet and found gallbladder info that said it can be caused by gallbladder problems...i did the natural cleanse with olive oil and apples and several gallstones came out.  The nausea was better and the neck pain gone...i changed my diet comp;letely and now feel better. ( i ate greasy frrench fries and after that felt the start of the gallbaldder pain.)

What your are describing is fits the symptoms of an ovarian cyst.  I have a 6cm cyst on my left ovary and just recently realized that the dull ache in my lower back is causing it.  Initially, i attributed it to exercise but after having weaned off my exercise routine the past couple weeks and confirming w/ my doctor, the dull ache is definitely the cyst.
Stay positive and keep us posted :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.  The achy lower back you are feeling is normal with an ovarian cyst.  Your best bet would be to have a repeat transvaginal ultrasound done.  Even the smallest cyst can cause pain.  I know that when I use the bathroom, my kidneys hurt (sharp pain) for a few minutes.  Is that the kind of pain you are feeling?  Call your gynecologist and ask for a ultrasound to be scheduled and an appointment a few days later.  This way your doctor should have the results of your ultrasound when you go for your appointment.  Good luck and please keep us updated on how you are doing.
