Thanks everyone., I am trying to eat alittle here and there. I will look for some drinks that I can use when we get paid. I did like the ensure, not crazy about it but it was ok and enough to get me thru since I couldn't eat back then. I weighed myself again this morning i have now lost 18 pounds.
I know something really needs to happen here cause what is happening to me is so not healthy, I NEVER wanted to lose weight this way. I love to talk walks and that is how I lose weight but since I am in so much pain I can't even take walks anymore. My father inlaw asked me if we still walk and I told him no and he said that was a shame cause he knows how much we love to walk. The house we moved into they have alot of walking places in here we use to walk thru the paths and parks. the kids loved to do it. I use to read all the time too and I stopped that which is a shame also. We all know how much pain changes our lifes when it is not being controled.

Jamie, I've lived for over a decade on a primarily liquid diet. Yes, it IS possible to maintain decent nutrition on liquids, but you have to work at it until it becomes normal. We all need protein and fats in addition to carbohydrates to stay healthy. While it's not easy to achieve that balance with liquids, it's not impossible. A scoop of protein powder in a smoothie can help you with the protein angle. Soft foods like avacados are great for meeting the fat requirement. Same goes for a tablespoon or two of peanut butter. See if you can manage some soft scrambled eggs. They're great for both protein and fat.
You might consider asking your pain doc to refer you to a licensed nutritionist until your pain is under control. I'm not wild about Ensure either - it just tastes nasty to me - but there are a ton of nutrional supplement drinks on the market to try in the meantime. I find they go down easier on ice or after 30 minutes in the freezer. You can't just sit there and not eat, or eat poorly, while you wait for pain relief. That will only add more health problems on top of what you're already dealing with. Never forget that "can't" never did anything. Now go get something to eat! :-)
I truly hope that all goes well for you. When seeing this new Doctor for the first time remember, don't sound too needy for the Pain Medications. This might send signals to the Doctor about the use of opiates. First impressions are everything these days. You never know what type of patients he's dealt with in the past and what he's watching out for.
I really want this to work for you so I guess this is my way of warning you of first impressions.
I agree about needing to eat something. With all your pain, you wouldn't want to make yourself sick on top of that. Ensure is a great idea. Chocolate is the best. It's like drinking a chocolate shake. When I can't eat, I generally like to make some homemade pudding. It's extremely easy and will fill you up. I will send you the recipe if you'd like. I know that your kids would love it.
Well, good luck with your future appt.
I'm sure that you'll let us know how it goes.
My best,
Molly
If anything please drink something like Ensure, something with vitamins. If you can use a try pudding, jello, applesauce. Use what little ability you have to eat count on what it is you eat. Drink plenty of fluids, gatorade, water, but continue the fluids at all costs.
Good luck....thinking of you...
Sweet Jamie: You have been so brave. Just keep it up. One day at a time, Don't think about tomorrow. Just get through one day at a time. Hang in there kiddo!
Praying for you
Sara
My two youngest children are very concerned for my well being also. In fact it's my middle child who blames herself for this whole ordeal. I may have to bring her in for counciling, so she doesn't keep this heavy weight on her shoulders. She is the one who crashed into me that caused this accident. Me telling her it's an accident and not her fault is not good enough. I'm literally stuck on the couch or bed for the last two years. I can not get up and start doing anything. I will pay the hefty price of unbearable pain that is worse then what I endure now.
We all wish you well at your appointment. I'm glad the days are counting down and it will soon be here.
