Bruising in arms

My son has been getting bruises on his arms only. No injuries and this is his 3rd occurrence. They mostly come up after a shower; however the water could be cold, hot, or warm. The very first one and some others have appeared without the shower but most of the time they come after he takes one or atleast make them spread and get more. The Dr does not know what it is and we did a full blood scan from the hospital and another more detailed for immune deficiencies at a childrens hospital. This last batch was burning him. The first ones had no pain, after a few days turned yellowish and went away( about 6 of them). Three weeks later he got them back and they were a little sore (about 8 of them). Now a month later he has them again, one one on each arm but have expanded after showering and are larger then the others. The childrens hospital had suggested dermatology or rheumatology. I am still waiting for his Dr to call me back and am at a loss. Has anyone heard of such a thing or an idea of what it may be?

He may be hemophiliac? Or the random bruising is also a symptom of some cancers...not trying to scare you. Biting him into a derm and maybe they can figure out what is going on. Best of luck to you both!

Unexplained bruising of the arms can be caused by medication, liver disease, bone marrow cancer, and hemophilia. It also common with illness that affects platelets, like thrombocytopenia.

The right move is to take your boy to the doctor -- an pediatrician or internist , who will need to make blood tests to diagnose the problem.

Best wishes for your boy.
