Wow that sounds horrible. Maybe try switching to something different. I was on way more percs than I should have been after a previous back surgery 3 years ago (about 12 a day), When the DR told me to drop the med I was totally hooked. I began to ween myself off over a week or so, then I went cold turkey. I was sick as hell for 3 days, bed ridden. Then a couple days of just feeling a little off. But overall it took about 2 weeks to get me back to work after starting to cut out the drugs.
I just had another back surgery after getting hit by someone talking on a cellphone, and I couldn't take percs at all. My reaction to them was very bizarre. I found that Vicodin was a much better drug for me.
Hey, Thank you for writing. I was thinking about Vico but I remember the doc telling me a while ago that Precs were the "drug of choice" for my injury. I have to say he was right however, if you stay on plan, it works great but have a bad week or 2? Game over. Last night was ridiculous. No sleep, the feelings I can't even describe. Like the flu times a fa-fillion. I prayed to everything including my cat for this to end. I have read so many posts and I can not believe the amount of people out there that have this same exact problem... something is seriously wrong here... Perhaps when I see my doc Friday, tell him what happened, and ask for a non narcotic pain mend that won't cause this feeling of nastiness. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone I didn't even like.
Man, I am sorry to reasy about your stuff. Cell phone issues... THAT drives me nuts. Horrible. I hope you have found some relief... I am sure one way or another, you will.
This is the 2nd day in to this madness and I am ready to suck it up and see what the doc says. I just hope I don't have another night like last night. But, is what it is and we all need to move along and maybe changes gears with pain management.
Regards,
Jimmy
im sorry youre suffering the WDs . Im not saying you are an addict, but you are definitely dependant on them. If you havent seen the SUbstance Abuse forum on this site yet, i advise you read and post over there. we deal with this every day there and have been through it (i got addicted to vicodin and abused them badly though i started out on them for true pain and still do have pain) here is the link if you need it. We can help you get through the WDs and there are some remedies for some of your WD ailments

Can you call you doctor, and tell him that though you wanted to cut back, and the idea was good, but you actually do need to take the 5 a day as you did before, and now you are out, so you need a refill? It's not like you went from 4 or 5 a day to way more like 8 or 10. You wanted to try to cut back, but your actual pain prevented that, right? Please call your doctor, so maybe you won't have to wait the full 6 days in pain. The withdrawals may actually start to get better after 3 or 4 days, you are not on a very high dose to begin with, so the WD symptoms may not last as long...but the pain will still be there. You haven't really done anything wrong. I do not think your doctor would want you suffering through withdrawals for the difference of one pill a day. I hope everything works out...
I understand totally.. I've been as long withought pain medication for 5 days at least and it's not fun. Honestly, the withdrawals from it, are horrible, and the pain is horrible too, as I have pain everyday. So it is very hard for me to function without treatment. Although I have never been on Percocet or Oxycontin or whatever, I have been on Hydrocodone, which frankly is beggining to "poop out" on me.
No fun!
