BACK PAIN/SIDE PAIN i need answers

Ok so i don't have insurance and i really need to know whats wrong with me.  lately for about the past 2-3 months i get spurts of serious sharp pains in between my ribs and hips.On my left side. kinda in the kidney area but more to my side. ill just be walking along and all of a sudden the pain starts. feels like i can barely walk. and when i breathe too hard it hurts. it feels really weird and its hard to explain. but i really need answers. sometimes i can feel it under my left breast. when i take breaths too hard it squeezes and hurt really bad. ill hold my chest to try and make it feel better. but it doesn't really help. these pains come atleast every two days. and for no apperant reason. im only 20 years old. i have one kid. i did have a c section.2 years ago. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. im also on the mirena birth control.Im not sure if that could be messing up my body. BUT im in pain. also i get a few minor pains in my lower abdomen. just discomfort. nothing to big. but if anyone has any ideas on what might be the problem.. please let me know.

your rib cage could be inflammed for some reason, I get this all the time.  Try som ibuprophen and heating pad and see if that will help.

Hi Vannamama,

Welcome to our Pain Management Forum. I sure wish I had a good answer for you. Pain in the region you describe could be from a multitude of issues. Unfortunately I believe it will take a good PCP to figure this out. Are there any free clinics or clinic that will accept payments, sometimes based on your ability to pay.

This could just be a "catch" or a "stitch" as my grandmother called those type of pain when I was a kid. They seemed to be muscle related and would resolve on their own.

It could also be associated with your surgery (adhesions) but it doesn't seem to be in the surgical area so that is less likely in my opinion. It sounds more like it's muscle related... but I am far from a physician or expert.

We have an Undiagnosed Symptoms Forum on MedHelp and you may want to post this question there. Here's the link"

You are always welcome here but the above Forum may offer better suggestions. Could this be a kidney infection? Do you have any UTI symptoms? You don't always have to have a lot of other symptoms besides pain when you have a Kidney Infection.

You might also want to check with your county. Sometimes they will offer a one time paid medical referral. Our county has been know to offer these. I wish you luck in getting to the bottom of your pain.  Please let us know what you find out... and if you can offer additional info please feel free to do so.

I'll look forward to hearing from you and encourage you to be active in our community.

Peace,
~Tuck
