Darvocet Replacement

Has anyone out there found a replacement for Darvocet that works?  So far they seem to be pushing Tramadol.  It does not work for me.  I have tried it twice.  Doctors seem to be leery of 3 page narcotics. Not because I can't take them , but because of the drug police (gov.) .  I get my pain meds from one Dr.  I have never been addicted to any med. I have several problems that cause pain.  To the point I cry and I have a high pain threshold. Thanks for any advice.

Hi Ansemom,

Sorry, Darvon has never been effective for me. I've been told by a few other ppl that it was very effective for them.  You're right...they are "pushing" Tramadol, which also was not effective for me.

Unfortunately Darvon was considered a weak opiate that physicians seemed more willing to prescribe and considered it to be a "safer" drug.

I am sorry to hear about your pain issues that cause you to cry...many of us have been there and can relate.

I do not feel comfortable suggesting a specific med. What works for me or Sue or Joe may not work for ansemon. So please have a heart to heart chat with your PCP. I hope your relationship with him/her is one that you can explain just what you have told us. Life is too short and you should not have to suffer needlessly.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you again soon.

Take Care,
~Tuck

I saw my Dr. and he is having me try a similar plan.  All we have to figure out is the effective dosages.  Thank you for responding. Ansemon

I used to take Darvocet.  I can not take Tramadol because of other drugs I'm on for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Both Hydrocone/APAP and Percot/APAP work for me as good as Darvocet - better actually because Darvo gave me stomach problems.

Thank you for the kind words,  My Drs. are afraid of the government regs on opiates etc.  every med that had the main ingredient that helped me has been taken off the market.  I had things sort of under control until that was taken out of the equation.  So far there is no sub for it.  I have drs. and pharmacists that all understand, but they have not been able to come up with anthing.  I am trying again today.  Wish me luck,  Ansemon
