I have the same reaction to any narcotics. I have been hospitalized twiced and on iv narcotics for 11 days one visit and 7 the next. I needed the pain relief for severe neuropathy pain onceand a hysterectomy that went bad with major complications. But i also need sleep. I would have loved to slept 3-4 hour in between the drug doses.  I would become so exausted from lack of sleep that I'd dose off in a light twilight sleep for 5 min or so a few times a day. The nights were so long laying and stareing at the hospital ceiling wishing to go to sleep. There has got to be a medical name for this condition. I tried loritabs, percocet, and all has the same insommnia reaction.I  hate it, I'd rather sleep without the severe pain also..This last hostipal visit, one dr precribed valium to go with the narcotic doses. That was the first time I was able to relax enough to dose off a few hours at a time. But, the drs  are reluctant to precribe valium because of the long term side effects of people who abuse the drug. This is sad for people like me. I am still seeking info on a medical terminology name for the weird side effect, the next time. I worry if I'd ever get cancer and have to depend on narcotics until the cancer killed me. The lack of sleep would definitely speed the dying process.

it has less acetaminophen in it(which is an anti-inflammitory). your dr probably changed it to avoid damaging your liver. you should ask him if you are concerned about it.

As I think I said in your other post I take hydrocodone. It makes me sleepy, much to the degree that oxycodone does for you.

I agree with Audrea, if oxycodone makes my sleepy, hydrocodone will most likely have the same effect on you. But it is worth a try to change if the sleepiness is bothersome.

Hydrocodone has the same side effects as does Oxycodone. If you are susceptible to become drowsy from Oxycodone, then it is safe to assume the hydrocodone may make you sleepy as well. On the other hand I have heard some people say that Hydrocodone gives them more energy and insomnia when they take it, so it really depends on how your body reacts to it. No two people are the same in that regard. I remember when I used to take Norco I never knew if I would get drowsy or hyper when I took it. It affected me different at different times. You really can't say for sure either way. Sorry, I know this does not help. Just know that it has the potential to make you really drowsy so take care when taking it. Make sure you know how you react before you go out and do any activities, especially driving.
Good luck and best wishes               Audrea

Hello Again Truth,

The on different in the Percocets that you are asking about it the amount of acetaminophen (tylenol) in each. They both contain 10mg of oxycodone.

Will one make you more sleepy than the other? I guess that depends on if the  acetaminophen makes you sleepy.

Take care, Tuck
