I had a discogram done 2 years ago in October which revealed 3 bulging discs (T12-S1) and a diffuse, posterocentral annular tear associated with a 4 mm broad-based central disc protrusion.  I also have mild to moderate disc degeneration (depending on the vertebrae level).  My pain is becoming much more significant and now radiating down both legs almost to the ankles at times.  My question is, would it be considered unreasonable to request an updated discogram to determine the status of these issues?

I went to the doctor today for a followup for my anxiety and once again mentioned my ongoing issues.  She seemed a bit more empathetic this time and told me because of the ongoing restrictions the state is putting on them that she is very limited on what she can do for me.  I did finally receive a call from the new PM, but they can't see me until the end of September.  I also contacted the neurosurgeon and have an appt. with him next Friday, so there is a little light at the end of the tunnel.  I just want to know what the status of everything is.  I know where my C-spine stands, but it's been awhile since they've done any diagnostics on my lower back (which has been an issue for the past 7 years).  One day I'll have a completely replaced spine :) and then all will be well.....I'm not looking forward to another discogram, they hurt like hell.  I nearly sat straight up (even after being sedated on Diprivan) when they injected that disc that is torn and protruding, but you have to do what you have to do and I want to make sure that there is documentation that these issues are real, not musculoskeletal or imaginary.  Thanks Trixy!

In my personal opinion, I would say yes, it would be perfectly reasonable to get the test done again for an update. Obviously if your still in pain, its not getting better but getting worse. I know you've had it pretty rough, but keep at the doctors to find out your issues, don't give up. (I know easier said than done right?). Keep us updated. Take care!
