Hello and Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am sorry to hear about your father. His is fortunate to have a caring child.
There are multiple reasons that your father could be having these symptoms. It is important that he seeks a medical evaluation.
Pain in the chest wall around the breastbone (or sternum) is the most characteristic feature of the condition known as Costochondritis. Medically, the term chondritis refers to inflammation of any cartilage in the body.
When Costochondritis is accompanied by swelling of the areas surrounding the cartilage, the condition is called Tietze syndrome. In Tietze syndrome, the swollen area of the inflamed cartilage may be tender to the touch, and the skin overlying the cartilage may be reddened.
The above are only two of the many possibilities. Again your Dad really needs to see a physician. I am not a physician nor any sort of an expert so please have your Dad evaluated. Chest Pain, any chest pain especially when accompanied by difficultly breathing should never be ignored. It could be a very serious condition and not have any thing to do with the above mentioned conditions.
Best of luck to you and him. Please let us know how he is doing.
Take Care,
Tuck
I am sorry your Dad is not feeling well. There are no doctors or medical personnel here in the PM community. I would suggest getting your Dad in to see his doctor right away.
I can't tell you what is wrong with your Dad but I would be concerned as any chest pain can be serious. Have him seen by a doctor soon.
Let us know how it goes:)
This forum is not equipt to tell you what's wrong with your Dad. If this continues, it would be wise to see a Physician. Have your Dad make and appt. to see his Doctor.
