Maybe someone here can diagnose me?

Hi,
My quick story.  Been on Lortab for 5 years now for pain doctors can't seem to locate.  My feet just ache all day and they sting/burn on the bottom.  My knees also ache all day and sometimes it is all I can do to walk....I'm only 42 years old.  I exercise every day and eat about as good as a person can.  I rarely eat refined sugar, don't eat bread of any kind, don't eat at fast food restaurants and drink very little, if any, soda.  I've had several different tests done on me to check if my nerves work properly and they do and I'm not diabetic.  If I sit for too long a pain begins in my butt check and runs down the back of my legs into the bottom of my feet.  Sometimes both feet feel as they are asleep and tingle even when I'm walking.  I'm at my rope's end here.  I've lived/suffered with this for quite some time and am just hoping for some relief as I hate these damm pain pills.  I realize this is not alot of info but I'm just trying to find a place to start.

I do see a pain mgmt doctor and I really like him.  Any thoughts or direction?

Sandee is correct. Your pain could be a referred pain from problem with the structure of your spine. An MRI is a good thought.

Another thought. Have you had a Doppler ultrasound or an angiogram done. Have they consider Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)? There is also peripheral vein disease (PVD) which involves the veins. PVD can also be known as peripheral arterial disease or PAD.

PAD or PVD is the medical terms given to a group of problems that causes poor circulation to the feet and legs. The most common cause of this is atherosclerosis which is better know as hardening of the arteries. In atherosclerosis there is a gradual thickening and hardening of the walls of the arteries. This condition can cause pain, numbness, tingling and swelling of the lower extremities, including the feet.

Obviously your physician will have the best answers for you. If your current PCP is stumped remember their are others and a second or third opinion cannot hurt. Have you seen a podiatrist? If not I would throw his/her expertise into the diagnostic process.

Good luck Disco. I know you are struggle with several issues and concerns right now. My heart goes out to you.  We are here to support you.

Have you had an MRI done? If the pain is not from your nerves it maybe coming from your lower back.  I know that my lower back problems make my legs sting and burn and my knees do give out on me from time to time also.
Get an MRI done and see what is says. I am glad that you have a PM doctor treating your pain. that is great that you do not have to live in pain with no help while your doctor figures out what the problem is:)
