Methadone with oxycodone

I've been on oxycodone for years for injured and deteriorating lumbar, thoracic and cervical discs. Currently I take 30 mg oxycodone 4 times daily (sometimes more depending on the day).
This works very well for my pain and restores (mostly) my ability to perform daily activities.
My problem as of late is sleep. My sleep is interrupted due to pain - it affects my being able to fall asleep sometimes and without doubt gets me out of bed BEFORE I am fully rested.
My doc prescribed methadone hcl 10 mg at bedtime to help w this.
My question/cconcern: will this affect the relief I get from the oxycodone? Reading the various opinions on the net about the [question] vary widely right to left. I am 5'8", 155 lbs.
Any suggestions, experiences will be appreciated.

Wow. That's good news. In addition to the help w sleep. I think this'll actually extend my oxycodone script each month. As they never last as intended... at least not for me.
Cold turkey... My goodness. That must've been awful, huh?
So Chuck... In word order/timeframe did you take your oxy/Meth ??

Tipilot- I was taking 60mg mscontin 3x a day along with 5mg methadone 3x a day and had wonderful relief, I had a prescription for oxycodone but could not afford to fill it.  But because I no longer have health insurance my pain doc won't see me anymore so I have had to stop all my meds cold turkey...NO FUN.  Good luck and keep us posted.  Chuck

THank you so much (for the response).
I am also wondering if there is a "best way"  to take these together (not literally of course).
To extend my relief and conserve my oxycodone... Or to take advantage of the take advantage of the 'done that I hear so many good things about.
Anyway...in short., should I take my oxycodone then later on a 10 mg methadone? I realize of course that any feedback is opinion only and not medical advice. I say this BC I don't want to hinder a members reply BC they are worried bout my interpretation of replies... Follow me ?
either way....all suggestions, opinions and experiences are not only welcomed, but eagerly encouraged. In advance, thanks people.
It's nice to be in a place where you're "empathic ally understood" :)

Hi Tj,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your Chronic Pain(CP) but glad that you are being treated. We all know how CP can disrupt our daily functioning and rob of us much needed rest.

Methadone will not interfere with absorption or function of Oxycodone. You may be thinking of another drug. Many ppl find great relief with Methadone.... Indeed there are some interesting articles that praise benefits of Methadone in Pan Management.

So relax and enjoy a restful night's sleep. :o)

If you have additional question please feel free to post them...... we'll try to be helpful!

Take Care,
~Tuck
