Dame Wilbur gave you very good advice.  She's been down this road.  Please let us know what happens.

I agree you need to be seen by a doctor but do try not to worry too much about it.  Do let us know what happens.  And come back whenever you like.  We're not doctors but we do listen.  And sometimes that can go a long way.

Hi, my chronic pain started really kicking in to high gear when I was your age, although I'd had the migraines all my life. I know how frustrating it can be when docs don't take you seriously, and just blow off things that are very important to you.

If you're having chest pains that make it hard for you to walk, it's important to get it checked out. Try and get your gma to make an appointment for you with a pediatric cardiologist. A ped. cardiologist should take chest pains more seriously than a regular, family practice doc. If your gma still doesn't think it's a big deal, and doesn't want to make the appointment, you can tell her that you just want to make sure. She should respect your wishes as it's YOUR body, and YOU know when something's 'off' about it.

Sarajmt has a good idea. Talk to your school nurse. They're paid to pay attention to the students' health concerns. If you can get the school nurse on your side, its likely you'll get other medical people to then at least listen to you.

When medical people do listen to you, DON'T exaggerate to get attention. I know that it's tempting it is, but when they figure out that you weren't telling the complete truth, they'll stop listening at all.

Good luck and keep us posted,

~Dame

Hi Tasha:  I have a daughter about your age.  Do you have a school nurse?  If so, talk to her.  She may be able to relate to your parents just how badly you're suffering.  If not, perhaps a trusted teacher.

It's unfortunate but true that many doctors don't take pain in young people very seriously.  But basically, your problem is getting your parents to understand just how bad this really is.

So if I were you, I'd write down exactly what's hurting.  Also write down how this is affecting your life and what you're able to do.  Then talk to your grandmother and/or parents again.  Try to let them know how badly this is affecting you.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Hi,
You need to talk to your Mom or Dad about how much this pain is affecting you and make an appointment and have them go with you so that the doctor can be made aware of how painful this has become for you. Do NOT let the doctor just brush you off.
If your doctor is not listening to you then it is time to find a new one.
Having chest pains at your age indicates a problem that should be addressed right away.
Talk to your parents and make the doctors appointment and have your problems addressed properly and as I said if the doctor doesn't listen hire a new one. You are hiring/paying this doctor to treat your health seriously and if he is not then he is not doing his job and it is time to fire him.
