Hi qtscot
I'm so sorry your also going through this. It seems this has become so frequent and its really a scary thing to think that you could do everything right and still be acused of breaking the rules and taking things your not.
Did the chief doc make sure to make a note in your records that there are infact problems with the test. I think that may be your best defense as being an RN you probably know the notes cant be changed or erased only discrdited by another note.
I think if you could get the chief DR to do that then although it would be in your records someone with alot of clout said that there have been problems with the tests.
. I can imagine your extreamly frustrated and angry to be accused of something you didnt do. Make sure you do get that chief DR to help do something about it. They cant let test results knowing there may have been a problem with the test ruin someones treatment and career. Sometimes the chief DR;s are really decent people because they want to keep patients coming in and dont want the facility they medically run to have a bad reputation so there more willing to hear people out. But I'm sure there all different and being an RN you may know better what you can expect from some of them.
I really hope this works out and doesnt effect you at any point for treatment or your career.

This is really concerning me. I have been in a PM clinic for 4 years since an injury left me with permanent nerve damage. i was prescribed vicodin 6/day for pain. They did a urine drug test on me that was positive for oxy and opiods. I have never taken any oxycontin and was shocked this was positive. I have doubts regarding the testing procedure ( no name on cup, no name on results, etc). I had a doctor accuse me of taking meds i was not prescribed and i cried for 3 days because i knew it wsnt true. The next time i went another doctor said tha the previous month it also tested this way...another shock. When I asked the chief doc he said that there were problems with the tests. Since Iam an RN and have a license to protect, iam very concerned this could ruin my whole career ( and pain management). i dont know what to do if this comes back to haunt me ( even though it wasnt my fault). I even worry that other patients are being blamed for things they arent doing!

Check this link, it contains information regarding urine testing for Chronic pain treatment. You will find the reason that you tested positive for those drugs. I would suggest that you print off a copy of this report and bring it to your PM and request a second test to clear your name. This time, request a serum ( blood test) instead of urine.
Best wishes to you,
Sandi M
Call an attorney--Your employer probably has the right to terminate you anyway-but if they base it on false information, well then that is not fair--(life isn't fair)--If you like the job, it might be worth fighting for it with an offer to be retested immediately--see what they say--good uck--whitfield
I HAD A SURGICAL PROCEDURE AND 10 DAYS LATER RETURNED TO WORK AND WAS HIT WITH A DRUG TEST. THE DR. GAVE ME PERCOCET AND DARVOCET SHOWED UP IN MY SYSTEM. I HAVENT TAKEN DARVOCETNOW OR NEVER. I AM BEING TERMINATED FROM MY JOB DUE TO THIS CANYOU HELP ME?
Morphine, hydrocodone, propoxyphene, darvocet, tylenol #4 and vicodin are all opioids. This is the reason that you failed your urinalysis.
Despite what you believed, you were taking the drugs detected. Pharmaceutical companies can only patent synthetic opiates, so we have a wide variety of analgesics (painkillers) that not many know are related to opium.
I don't think this is so much a case of a false positive as a lack of knowledge on part of both the administer of the test and the partaker.
this same situation happened to my best friend who tested positive for heroin and was immediately and illegally pulled off her pain meds ended up in the e.rl
almost having a stroke make a long story short someone who worked in the drs
office mixed up test results and put them in the wrong charts she fought like hell was retested and the error was found only after the second test was negative it can happen and has happened fight for your name it will present problems down the road do you have prior documented evidence of your allergic reaction to vicoden if so this should help prove your point good luck let us know what happens
I would request another drug test. If your PM Center will not do this and you really want to "clear your name," so to speak; tell them that an attorney will contact them, insisting on another test. If you don't get this incorrect information out of your medical record now, it could cause alot of problems for you down the road.
Obviously someone else's test results got mixed up with yours. You have to stick up for yourself in this world. No one else will. You DESERVE to have your name cleared and I would INSIST on it.
Best Wishes to you,
