Need to be a functional person- methadone withdrawal ruining my life

I was 3 1/2 months pregnant and have been on methadone for over 5 years i had decreased my dose to 70mg my Dr. prescribed my medications. a month ago he said the owners of his practice said he could no longet prescribe any narcotics and he would send me to pain managment, well i couldn't afford the $520 pain managment visit so i went back to the Dr. he said we will have a hard time finding someone to see u for P.M while preg. so he decided to go ahead and write down a wean schedule for me. I started the wean, felt bad but did it. A few days later I go to my O.B Dr. and he days NO WAY can I wean or stop methadone while pregnant & fetal specialist agreed. I told my reg. Dr. started my meds reg. went for ultrasound next week and my baby had died. On the same day, I was out of meds, called reg. Dr. office  & nurse informs me the Dr. as of the day  b4 is no longer with the practice.... no explanation, no notice and apparently no luck at all for me. Battle with Insurance for 3-5 days had to go thru ER (was given 15, 5-325perc. went home for 2 days w/ds set in then had to go under for surgery (D&E) went home in tons of pain using OTC meds. Found a PCP that i can see and i do need a PCP i am just wondering if it's worth going on the methadone again? I was advised in the ER to go to the methadone clinic but i hear thats just more restraint on your life plus i'm epileptic and do not drive and i could not ask someone to devote their life everyday to taking me to get methadone...I already feel selfish while in w/d i'm not functioning as a person let alone a wife or mom

hi sooty I will deff have to check that out. I have been reading some of other ppls experience with cold turkey methadone withdrawal, I've heard its's worse than H w/d. I've never done street drugs.  I was so shocked when my Dr. Left with no notice how many ppl in the medical community immediatly treated me like a drug addict. I have taken my meds as prescribed for yeara and I guess that part is still bothering me, I'm going to talk to a pyhch. as i have a history of manic deppresion and may be getting thr PAWS

Thank you Pamela i'm still off the methadone day 21. This isn't an easy recovery process guess i had to find out the hard way. I've lost over 30 pounds and I have other health conditions, i have been drinking pedialyte and keeping down what food i can it just feels like my body is fighting me to the death right now,. Found out a deer tick bit me a couple days ago now i have to go to the hospital for lyme disease. Oh some of us just have all the luck. My support system is non existant so it helps to talk to others who understand thanks again

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(
I had a similar situation in that I found out I was pregnant while taking methadone for pain relief, miscarried, moved, saw a new doctor who prescribed oxycodone and became pregnant again all within a month.  It's difficult and frustrating to deal with pain, medications, and doctor's opinions while you're pregnant.
Most doctors just don't want to accept the liability of having a pregnant patient in PM and those that do usually only accept the best insurance.  It's important never to stop medications cold turkey, but tapering your dose shouldn't cause a miscarriage, if that helps you to deal with the loss better.  It's definitely nothing that you did that caused it.

I hope you will check out the addiction and substance abuse forum for help with the withdrawls.  They are great, supportive people and can help you through it.
Also, be careful about becoming pregnant again, unless you are trying, because that can happen right after a miscarriage.
Hang in there, it gets better! :)
