Yes Sandee is correct. And that's why I think it is the increase in the neurontin causing you the "amped out" feeling rather than the absence of the Valium. But I am certainly not a physician and as Mollyrae reinforced Sandee's true statement, "every one reacts a little different." You take care too, Tuck
I took neurontin years ago and it took me on a trip:)
I was so content to just sit and look at the walls all day and night , I slept very little and after about three weeks my husband said enough and I stopped taking it. I did not even realize it was effecting me that way until I stopped taking it.
I apprciate all the input. I've looked up the Nuerontin everywhere I can and I guess it's ok. Honestly, my sister has bad side effects from it and thats what scared me the most. But she has other issues(Bipolar). Anyways. I'm hoping the Nuerolysis works, I still have a serious pinching sensation down my right leg. (right side was done). Called Dr and they said it should go away in about 10-14 days. Hopefully so. It's been a year since my right side was origianlly done. Had the left side done 2mos ago, but had accident 3days after Nuerolysis. I guess eventually I'm just going to have to loosen up and get the back surgery. Well hopefully all the interim treatments will help until I'm ready. Take care all. Gretchen
PS- I would more associate the absence of Valium causing your discpmfort rather than the Neurontin but like Sandee said, Everyone reacts in a different way.
Hello Gretchen, The absence of Valium from your drug therapy could cause some insomnia. Every physician has his or her own personal preferences when it comes to medications. For example my physician hates oxycodone and Oxycontin even though they are frequently prescribed for CP suffers. She believes that Valium is an effective muscle relaxer when not abused and she prescribes it. I take it. So it is simply physician preference.
Neurontin may be causing the "amped out" feeling that you are experiencing. In time your system should adjust to the increase. The most commonly observed adverse events associated with the use of Neurontin in adults, not seen at an equivalent frequency among placebo-treated patients, were dizziness, somnolence, and peripheral edema.
I am glad your Nuerolysis treatment has been completed. I hope you will soon have much less pain. Please let us know how you are doing. And as always, take care of yourself, Tuck
Hi Gretchen,
If your feeling like the medication dosage is effecting you adversly please let your Dr know. Medications and side effect's are different for each person.
I would say the absence of the Valium is effecting you some but the increase in your other meds could also be the reason your feeling "amped".
Hi Gretchen. Please do not worry about Neurontin. I have taken it for a long time and at twice the dose your at. I have not had one problem from it and it does work on my nerve pain. I have had absolutely no side effects even from the increases I've had. In my opinion, it is a completely safe drug. If you have any douts about it then Google
"Neurontin Side Effects" it should give you a really good indepth look at the drug.
Take care
Molyrae
