You can work with your pharmacist to have automatic refills for neurontin since it is not a scheduled drug; some pharmacies will even mail them out. I understand the issue with forgetting the refills - happens to me all the time. Back in the 80s I was prescribed an anti-depressant (name forgotten in the mists of time) that when I had withdrawals I began to hallucinate like I had been dosed with acid (yes, I recognized the similarities from some fun in the 70s). It took a while for me to finally figure out the correlation - I always seemed to run out on a Friday and by Sunday I would be higher than a kite; I finally took it seriously when I ended up at work barely able to function.
Phil is correct.
Abrupt stopping of any drug, especially Neurontin (Gapepentin) and Lyrica (Pregabalin) is not advisable.
Lyrica is a Schedule V drug - however most physicians do not have a problem ordered it. There should be no questions about the Neurontin. Call you Doc's office.
Good Luck,

Neurontin (and Lyrica) withdrawals are very uncomfortable.
This is not addiction, but a change in the nervous system caused by the mediation called dependence.
Neither of these medications are controlled substances, and can be phoned into the pharmacy by your doctor. When you are in trouble, don't suffer -- call your doctor's office and tell them you need a refill.
