OK I need help...

OK I have been on a Chemo Called Interferon and it is for Skin Cancer ..Melanoma .  So I just got off it 2 Months ago. Now the side effects of the above Chemo is Flue Like feels and Cramping of the Legs / Muscles .
Now I had cancer the first time In 2002 for a Year long chemo and then again in 2009-10 again a year of the same chemo and I had that flue like cramping muscles for the whole time Since I first got Cancer and or got on the Chemo.
So I'm asking if anyone knows why it would keep hurting, or did something happen to me back in 02 as I was on that chemo? I can't live on Pain medication but I can't stand this pain Anymore. I have to get better so I'm going to post this in more then one place. To add in Layed down for 4 months during this time and did not do much close to the year really but Got Really bad for 4 Months straight. And I did pretty much the same in 2002..So I don't know if Maybe I got Muscles Weakness..? Think maybe that? HELP
Thanks SO Much,

Very sorry for all you've been through.  I don't know much about Interferon, other than it can be a very, very difficult treatment.

Have you tried talking to your oncologist about this?  He/she would probably have a lot more insight as to whether these issues you have are permanent or not.

I know it's hard to reconcile being on pain meds, especially if you think you made need them for an extended period of time or permanently.  I'm struggling with that myself at the moment, although with the research I've done and the help I've received through this site, I've been able to make some good decisions.

Best of luck getting to the bottom of this.

I am so sorry to hear of your painful ordeal. Here's the dilema with Interferon, as it acts to actively suppress and abolish tri cellular cancerous cells, it also can cause fisular damage to muscle tissue as well as other organs. As most non-neurological muscle damage can be regained, you have had repeated cycles over the years. Thus, it can expected that the damage could be listed as an irreparable injury. As you have had to attain the strength to endure these tests and treatments over the years, so you may have to gain that muster to take your pain medication and look to the future for technology to set  your wrongs, right. Please continue to see your Doctor(s) for your paticular case and findings. Don't give up hope, because everyday new advances are made.
