SI Joint (left) Pain Chronic & Severe Low Back Pain 25 Years+

I'm 53 & a woman living with the above pain listed in the title.

I'm also so a 100% Home Bound Disabled Veteran due to the gravity of my pain level.

I just got on Medicare and want to receive medical care outside the VA.

My question is where should I look and/or go for care. It's been 25 yrs for me since I've sought medical help.

Can you please give me advice. Medication is Nod helping. I've been on several narcotics ie, Oxycodone, Methadone (for pain), Morphine, Tramadol and other, but that's all I can think of at the moment. Not to mention several other pain meds ie, Motrin and the like.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello Pat,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am glad you found us and took the time to post. As you can see the forum will not allow you to post a personal email.

My heart goes out to you. I have severe SIJD and am also disabled due to the extreme pain and limitations the condition places on me. I can relate.

I am not certain what you are looking for in medical care. I assume you have a positive diagnosis of SIJD. There are not many options available for long term SIJD patients. The main goal is pain management.

I have found that OMT (Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy) from a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) along with pain management medications allow me to function minimally. However they go hand in hand. Just medications or just OMT will not manage my pain.

I have done years of research on options and seen many specialists. None have offered me any hope, at least none of the reputable ones. I believe we are all different and what is effective for one may not be effective for another. It's trial and error.

If I understand your question you are asking where you begin. Which is a good question and probably has a lot of answers. If I had to begin this journey again I would start with a D.O. that performs OMT. It took me years to discover this treatment. Again it may not be as successful for you.

Please keep in touch. I will be very interested to hear of your journey, progress and experiences. I wish you the very best and will look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Take Care,
~Tuck
