Pain Management

i was prescribed co-codamol 30/500 and now i am being prescribed zapain 30/500 capsules instead. the zapain are not killing my pain as well as the co-codamol did?
Are they weaker?

Hi!
No, strength wise both co-codamol and zapain prescribed to you is same. Also, both contain codeine phosphate and paracetamol (acetaminophen). Why one drug preparation has better effect than a similar preparation by another name is not well understood. It could be a psychological effect or a minor change in the composition of the in active ingredients because bioavailability (how much drug is actually available) of the drug is usually the same. If you do not get pain relief from zapain, you could ask your doctor to re-prescribe co-codamol. Take care!
