Workman's comp

I have been going to a pain management dr for 4 years, since a back fusion. I need the injects procedures and meds to try to work and have a normal life. Here is my question, I hurt myself at work 2 weeks ago, since I was already on pain meds and muscle relaxers, the work drs said to keep taking the same meds.it is time for my refills, and I wonder if the work dr should give me my meds, of course I will tell my pain dr. ( I notified them of my injury ) would appreciate some input.

I think it would be wise to keep getting your pain medications from the doctor that was originally prescribing them to you. It could look like you are doctor shopping, or maybe throw up some other "red flags" of some sort if you present a prescription for your "usual" painkiller, but from a different doctor. It is also wise to make sure both doctors know what the other is doing to treat you, so nothing is repeated twice unnecessarily. Take care.

Thanks, that's the reason I waited and did not to call my refills in from my pm dr. But I talked it over with both doctors and decided to stay with pm dr. They were all great!

Hi!
Well, ideally you will be prescribed pain medications only by one doctor. If you injure yourself at work, then yes, you are entitled to workman compensation. However, you have to discuss this with your pain doctor and your office doctor for the best solution to this as you cannot get a double refill of pain medications. Hope this helps. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
