Post surgical pain

I had prostate surgery in Sept of 2008.  My PSA is perfect, my incision has healed.  I have had chonic pain in my left groin region since the surgery.  The pain has increased. A recent MRI and a past CTS show no abnormalities except a fatty infiltration of the muscles around the groin area.  I am taking Gabapentin twice a day and Ibyprophen 800 once in awhile.

What can be done to get rid of this constant pain?

I agree with the scar tissue being your problem.  It will not show up on any imaging tests.  And trust me, this scar tissue can cause a lot of trouble and can spread.  I'd get this checked out if I were you.  If your doctor tells you scar tissue doesn't hurt or cause problems, find another doctor.  It most definitely causes trouble and pain for some people and you may be one of us.  Another term for this scar tissue is adhesions.  Google it.

I agree with Sherry like always. Talk more to your dr about this and maybe since this has been a long term pain you need to be seen by a pain dr so maybe they can help treat this pain so you can get on with your life and not have to worry about it.
Best of luck to you,
Jamie

Hi Lar:

First let me welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know how glad I am that you have found us.

I'm so sorry that your pain is occurring and is increasing.  What does your Dr. say about this? If you haven't checked with him I hope that you will. Is there anypossibility that it could be from scar tissue from the surgery? I know that the Scar Tissue can cause a tremendous amount of pain and can be quite debilitating for you.

I hope that you will check this out and I hope that you can get some relief. If all else fails you might  see about checking with a PM (Pain Management) Clinic to help you get some relief from your pain.

There will be others who will be along later that mights be able to help you more than I could. Best of luck and again I'm so glad that you have joined the Pain Management Forum and I hope that you will stay and be a contributing member to our Forum.

Please keep uss updated as to how you are doing as we care about you....Sherry
