Hi Mike,

Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you have found us but sorry to hear about your undiagnosed pain.

I agree with Mollyrae. Pain that doubles you over should not be ignored. I assume by left left quad you are referring to the four quadrants of your abdominal area. There are so many possibilities that it is difficult to "guess" at what could be happening.

"Stinging" pain is usually related to nerve pain. One thought that comes to mind is Shingles, which often appears as you describe. However it can also be a GI issues or other internal structures.

I suggest that you consult with your PCP asap. I hope you will let us know how you are doing. We will look forward to your updates with interest.

Take Care,
Tuck

Hello Mike and welcome to the Pain Forum.

I'm very sorry to hear of your pain you're experiencing. First of all, I want to tell you that I am not a Doctor and there are no Doctors in this particular forum. You will find them in the Expert forums (right side of the forum page).

I think that if the pain is so bad that you're doubled over, you should have it checked out immediately by your Physician. Pain is the body's way of telling you that something is wrong. The longer you wait, the more damage you could be doing.

I would suggest a thorough blood work up. Your kidneys are located on the left side of the abdomen and it may worth while to have them checked out. Are you having any problems with urination?

Also, seeing a Gastroenterologist might not be a bad idea. Ask your Doctor about this possibility.

MedHelp also has an expert forum for Gastroenterology. You might want to post this question there as well. I'm sorry that I can't help you further but others will post as the day goes on so be patient. Again, I am sorry to hear of your pain. Please take care and I wish you luck in finding your answer.

Regards,
Mollyrae
