Severe pain on right side; unable to locate pain

I have been suffering from severe pain on my right side for 4 months. I have been in and out to doctors who try to understand why I am in pain. So far they have ruled out kidney stones, kidney infection, bladder infection, gallbladder problems, gallstones, liver problems, and appendicitis. My symptoms include
- ride side pain
- gas
- severe constipation (which I think is getting worse)

If those are the symptoms that you gave to the doctors then they should have done a lower GI test. Go back and ask for that to be done. It is not fun but it would show growths, blockages and anything abnormal.  What they do is have you take some stuff the day before to clean out your intestines and bowel. Then the day of, they give you an enema of white dye directly into your rectum and watch through a x-ray machine to see where the dye goes etc. If your pain is upper right hand side then they would have to do an upper GI test which is basicly you drink alittle bit of barium(white dye)and while standing they watch the dye travel down to your stomach.  These tests do not take long and you shouldn't need a driver.  You will only be alittle uncomfortable and maybe alittle embarrassed (for the rectum enema). You will probably know the results right away if you have a nice doctor that will tell you or show you what he saw.

Hello angelaraz,

I have this pains (bellow) for ages. First came sinusitis, then I had to find the cause for it. Came to shoulder muscle, and finally to shoulder muscle joint benign tumour. I was in the hospital, April 2004 and after Scientigraphy to find out, where is the cause, they didn't find anything. So, I am on the beginning. My pains are every day worse.

As my Hobby is Astrology, and I am good enough, to see in Birth Chart, where is the problem. In my case is stomache (it is proved by Gastroscopy). Because I am AC Libra, there must be something wrong with my kidney. For doctors my kidney is ok. When I have this pains, at the same time my URIN is very dark. That means, my bladder is not ok. They can't see bladder on x-rays. All is a bit strange.

I would like to help you from that side, if you give me your birthdatas. Maybe, together we can do something?

My husband is also having the same pains....however we have had the Upper Scope and colonscopy completed and they found he had a stomach infection (gave him 7 day prescription for antibotics ) but he is still having alot of pain....not sure where to go from here. They have ruled out the kidneys and gallbladder as well

Hello and welcome to MH. There is some very good advise here and I agree with all. I think a Colonoscopy and Lower GI tests are in order.

Take care and good luck in the future,
Mollyrae

How was the gallbladder ruled out?  After x-rays, CT-scans and ultrasound, I wouldn't rule out gallbladder without having a hida scan done.  Not all gb problems are due to gallstones, and the hida scan is very good at evaluating how well (or poorly) the gallbladder is functioning and if it is inflamed (infected).

Jaybay and Mollyrae,

You must be tired. This is a old thread that jcbarte posted on. Our former poster may be long gone. I know I get caught in those old threads too and I have to read them a few times before I see 2007.

But jcbarte welcome to MedHelp. I am glad you found us and I am very glad you  husband is doing better. Gastroenteritis can be nasty. Good luck to him and you too.
