Side Effect from Duragesic 25mcg Patch

I got sick this morning from the 25mcg patch. My dr. is now giving me the 12mcg patch. Has anyone ever tried this low dose. Will I still get sick?
Thanks

Hi again Yobo,

I hear you. And what I hear is fear. Mollyrae and Jaybay have been on the patch for years with successful pain relief. They have tolerated it very well and dealt with the initial side effects.

As I said before I had an allergic reaction at 25mcg's. I started at 12.5 and that did not provide me with significant pain relief. My PCP knew it wouldn't so per her instructions I increased it after nine days to 25 and that's when I had the reaction. But I am not the usual and if you were to have an allergic reaction you would have had it at 25mcg.

So if this is providing you pain relif and you are only feeling a bit lightheaded or dizzy that will go away in a few days, especially on the 12.5. Don't concentrate on what you are feeling. Try to relax and think of your dreams. It will get better. I know you may be afraid I am a real wuss when it comes to the "Big Dog" medicines. But my pain is so severe that I kept trying until I found one that I could deal with the side effects. Fentanyl may be the one for you but you really need to give it a bit of a chance, a little time. Hang in there and you can chat with me any time.

Take care, relax a bit and hang in, you'll be ok. Tuck

I've used the fentanyl patch for well over 3 years.  I felt a tiny bit woozy the first week, but ever since I've never had a problem with it.  Well, except when I forget to change it!  Started at 25, then graduated to 75, and worked back down to 50.  Going down isn't exactly fun, but I wanted to reassess where my pain levels were at, and I'm glad to be able to get along OK with a lower dose.

Mollyrae is the one to listen to here about the patch as she has been on it for sometime now. She really knows about them and their side effects , if you still have questions or concerns please talk to your Dr and make them known and maybe even discuss changing pain medications.

I have tried to explain to you the side effects in your last 2 posts. They will go away. If you are that worried about the patch then maybe  the patch isn't for you.....The more you over-react the worse you will make yourself feel. The patch your on is a VERY low dose. ...............You may feel a tiny bit nauseated but NOTHING to worry about.

unfortunately that sounds about right.weakness is all apart of opioids. how bad is pain ?what level of pain are you able to live in and is it a option? For me I  just half to accept the problems that come with meds. You might expect lightheaded for a while and  it takes more energy (legs/arms) to do anything. After a while anyway. Some pain meds/mussle relaxents feel fine for few hours.but while I feel fine, I lift and do to much. Then when interment meds. goes away I pay for everything,I felt I could do while.

I was just recently put on 75mcg.patch from avinza 120mg.I had a little anxiety for four or so hrs. THe more i thought about it and focused on it the worse i felt.Try watching a funny tv or grt your mind on something, other than focusing on each possiable side effect. The power of worry and the mind can be strong! In saying that, do read and journal the changes w/your body.If you feel more comfort w/12 than 25 its your choice. It is a strong drug that can mess with resp.depresion/which is scarry.   When you say sick what do you mean?
