pain affecting sleep, help

Hi, i have chronic pain in both my right and left scapulars all the way down to the buttocks.  i don't know if i have insomnia or the pain prevents me from falling asleep or both, but it's really affecting my life.  I'll go a whole night without sleep, then the next night, i'll fall asleep at 7:30 pm and wake up at 5:00 am.......the following night i'm asleep at 7:00pm and awake at midnight, and then can't go back to sleep.  this a typical cycle for me.  i know i need to be on medication of some sort.  does anyone have any advice?  thanks.

Talk to your dr. about Elavil. I started taking it for migraine prevention, as well as to treat chronic jaw pain and to help me sleep (pain from both problems was making it difficult to sleep). My aunt also takes it for her fibromyalgia, it helps with her chronic pain, and helps her sleep.

Have you tried a sleep aide.  Though I do take one, I still wake up and have to take something for pain. Pain keeps me from getting a good nights sleep. It is just something you need to talk with your physician.  Hard to say why we have these problems. I have fibromyalgia, so it is kinda normal to be in pain.

Sorry I'm rambling. I hope something in this blog is helpful
