painful or just a pain in the neck?

I have multiple pain issues as well as health problems , for 1 I have chronic hep c including cirosiss, also have advanced emphysema , chronic pancreatittus , divorticulitus, and am in pain constantly ..... I have found it very hard to find a dr. in my area who will treat me at all due to my multiple problems they seem overwhelmed or maybe they just dont want to work that hard?....the latter is very dis-heartning......but true I see a dr. at the cleveland clinic about my cirsosis and pancreas problems but it just seem like I am getting anywhere they are treating my pain with oxy-caps right now but want me to go in to a long-term pain-rehab ... with a multi-stage approach to treatment including but not limted to bio- feed back , ot , and rt . rather than a 12 step program due to my conditions problem is I am not getting any relief with my meds , and the prospect of that program must wait till they have a opening in the upcoming months , I did have a dr who was treating me with oxy and vicodin and zanax and he did a urine screen and found that I was smoking pot to combat my nausea and released me as his patient and instantly cut me off all meds , sure I have been more than a little dependet on these drugs but I am not sure what else I can do my life is consumed by pain and I feal like I want to die sooner  rather than later , but I am writing this in hopes of finding a alternitive to my problems can anyone offer hope or ideas of what or where to go from here ?.......my spelling is bad but my mind and heart are open. please help me if you can ........signed lost and hopeful

Your PM thayt treleased you should have given you enough meds for 30 days to give you time to finsd another dr. Like Tuck said with the liver problems that you have limits the dr to what kind of meds they give you. Lot of your pain meds are combined with actemphine, whcich of coasre is bad for the liver.. but there is a med called roxicet that is oxycodone without the actimepnine.. they could give you or tylox is another.. but you need to find i new pain dr be upfront and honest and tell him you messed up with the pot but that you were so nauseated that you had to do something.. i am a dialysis patient and my tomach is always messed up there are manu good meds for that and they help greatly.. good luck please let us know how your doing..please keep posting they are many good ppl on here like Tuck that wont steer you wrong, and if you need to chat pleae feel frree to pm me i am here everyday

Hi Zackskyler,

My heart goes out to you. You have so many medical issues that I am certain are causing you discomfort and pain. Welcome to our Pain Management Forum. We are a group of Chronic Pain sufferers that do our best to support and guide one another. I hope you will stay with us.

Most likely due to the damage to your liver and your unhealthy pancreas your physicians are reluctant to prescribe heavy duty meds or acetaminophen for you. Many drugs are metabolized by your liver as a poison. It makes your liver work harder to rid the body of what it interprets to be toxins. And the many of the same meds are hard on your pancreas.

Most of us have felt that we would like to leave this earth sooner than later at different points in our CP journey. But there is hope as long as there if life. Hang in there. You can PM me any time and that is the way most of our other members feel. We are here for one another, again please stay with us. We have a member that is awaiting a kidney transplant and he may be able to relate well with your issues. I will send him a PM if he doesn't come along soon.

Have you been to an Pain Management Clinic. I know you said you were released by one PMP due to your pot usage and this will be true will all PMP. If nausea is an issue hopefully they can prescribe something that will ease it so you can avoid the pot and stay with the PM clinic. There are physicians out there that will listen to you and treat you. They maybe hard to locate but please do not give up. A physician will respect you honesty so be upfront with all you see and ask for understanding and treatment. Others will post with their ideas and opinions. I look forward to hearing from you again. Join our community and we will offer you support. This community has been a God sent for me. I am hopeful you will feel the same.
Take care and Happy New Year, Tuck
