I am sorry that your doctors all seem to be passing the buck. Find yourself a new PM doctor! They can/will offer you more options.
The Ultram will help some with the withdrawal from the lorcet and far as pain wise it is not as strong as the Lorcet plus but will help some.
I would definitely find a new pain management doctor so you will have more options.
You control your medical care as you hire the doctors that treat you. If they are not treating you then it is time to find a new doctor.
Would you hire say a plumber and let him get paid for work not done. Let the plumber come to your home and sit around and not even look at the problem and then pay him. The same principal is true for doctors. If they are not adressing the problem to your satisfaction then find a doctor who will.
That is your right as a patient to have your doctor treat your pain and pain issues.
Different doctors may offer dfiierent options but you do have the right to proper treatment.
Thanks for the info. I reside in VA and I am not very familiar with the process. I also take Prozac for depression and anxiety and everything I have read says not to take the two together. I have an appointment Wed with a different Dr as I feel I need more attention and consideration than my current PCP is giving me. ( Not to mention he operates a walkin clinic as well so time is very limited ) I started this morning with 1/2 of a Lorcet, 1 Tramadol mid morning and another 1/2 Lorcet this afternoon. I have 10 Lorcet left and am going to try to cut back each day with only 1 Tramadol. I have been having loose stool in the mornings since I started the Tramadol as well as a strange feeling that is hard to explain. ( a little sad, anxious, dread type feeling ). I only hope this new Dr can help and advise me a little better. The older I get the more attention I think I need and it seems to be difficult to find someone. I hope I am posting at the right place. Help me all, I need it.
Hello BoJim,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your painful hip. I do not know what state you reside in so I don't know how narcotics are regulated.
In my state, Wisconsin it is our PCP that prescribe for and follow their chronic pain patients. In other states PCP do not do that. You must see a PMP. If that is the case in your state I encourage you to find a good PMP that will treat your pain.
The generic name for Ultram better know by it's trade mane, Tramadol. I have taken it but it did not touch my pain. I beleive it will soon be considered a scheduled and controlled narcotic. It is marketed as a sister to morphine with similar actions. It does have addictive qualities. Some ppl find good releif with this medication. Physicians are more likely to prescribe it because it is not a controlled substance.
Hopefully the Tramadol will help mask the w/d symptoms from the Lorcet. If not, contact your physician as there are other medications that can help you through that process.
Please keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your updates. Best of luck and please take care.
Peace,
~Tuck~
Ultram kills my stomach and makes me nauseous. But hey, you know the saying, one mans garbage, is anothers' treasure. Good luck 2u
I personally can not take it. It makes my whole body shake. Ratemds.com has user opinions when your looking for a pain management, if no one has a recommendation. I know how hard it is to find a good pain management clinic. You may want to see a new PCP, so they can prescribe pain medicine until you find a pain management clinic. Good luck and I hope you get into pain management soon.
Sorry, Its actually Tramadol. ( Generic for Ultram I think )
