Unemployed and Undiagnosed

Hi,
I have been sick and undiagnosed for a year now. Have seen literally dozens of doctors of all  specialties and I have been unofficially diagnosed with lyme disease, ms, lupus, ra, and a new autoimmune inflammatory infection, all can be ruled out. They have no idea what I have or how to help me. I am allergic to most pain meds, was taking Tramadol for a while but they worried about dependency, plus it wasn't touching the pain.
I can not work in this condition, the constant pain makes me crazy. I excersise as much as I can, eat good, and keep my self preoccupied. That all seems to work a bit, but my biggest concern is not being able to have an income.
Is there any way I can get a disability type income while being undiagnosed.
Thank you

Hi there! I was wondering have they ever mentioned Fibermyalgia to you?? What kind of pain are you in? My sister has that and she was in pain for like 4 years b4 they finally said she had fibermyalgia and she also has RA but a very mild case....My sister can't take many drugs due to stomach issues but you should talk to you doctor more about that. My sister take gabapntin to help with inflammation...anyways it was just a thought and the disablitiy thing I am not sure...if you wer diagnosed with something concrete it would be easier to except b/c I think you need a doctors note! I hope things get better for you and I wish you the best of luck!!

i dont have any answers, sorry, but i wanted to wish you the best..

pain is an awful thing to live with day in and day out. It takes away our drive, motivation and leaves us feeling empty. Its important to not give up hope in your search for answers. Somewhere out there, im sure there is someone who can help you, its a matter of being able to find them.

Ive also been diagnosed with multiple conditions and still no one knows what is wrong with me. Fortunatley for me i am 30 and was able to return to my parents house of whom are taking care of me. I have been here 5 months now, with my pain still as strong as ever. I have suffered for over 2 years though, from when i wake to when i sleep.

Just wanted to let you know there are others who have no idea whats wrong with them but to not give up hope in the search, answers are out there ! we just have to find them :)

Hello Fordwoman,

You asked a difficult question. It never hurts to apply for SSDI. It's usually a timely process. Generally the younger and more educated you are the more difficult it can be to be approved.

Have you checked with your state to see if they can offer you any assistance? I think I would do both until you have some answers and know what you are facing.

I wish you the very best and hope that you will find a diagnosis. Many of us have been where you are and I can empathize with you.

Best of Luck,
~Tuck
