Causing pain

I had a trial neurostimulator for a week. A couple of days after the leads were placed in my back, I experienced excrutiating pain. Can a stimulator cause pain as opposed to relieving it?

Hello Zaeda,

I'm sorry to hear about your pain.  I assume when you say a neuro-stimulator you mean a SCS (Spinal Cord Stimulator). Is that correct?

Most physician's will not tell you that yes - these SCS can increase your pain or cause new pain. You normally here the positive - and they are many - but they tend to minimize and down play the negatives.

If you haven't researched the SCS in detail I encourage you to do so. There is a lot of information available on the internet.

What are your plans going forward? Will you agree to the final implantation of the SCS?

If you have a specific question or I wasn't clear please feel free to ask again. We'll look forward to hearing more from you.

Best of Luck,
~Tuck
