Help finding pain management clinic in Winston Salem,NC

I have RA, MS, and fibromyalgia. I have a a family doctor, a rheumatologist, and a neurologist. My neuro, and rheumatologist both have told me I have to get my pain meds from my family doctor. I have had RA for more than 20 years and it has gotten worse the last couple of years. My family doctor has prescribed darvocets for a long time and they are like drinking water for my pain. My family doctor has prescribed lorotab a couple times, but only a few at a time. To be honest they don't help either. He (my family doctor) says he will not prescribe strong pain meds for long periods of time because of the dangers of addiction. My quality of my life has suffered greatly due to my pain the last couple of years. I really can't even start to explain it. I have taken 120 darvocets a month for years and I am not addicted to those. As a matter of a fact I hardly even take them anymore because they do not help and can't be good for my body to keep taking them.
Does anyone reading this know of a good pain management doctor near Winston Salem, North Carolina?

I don't know if this will help, but Greenville, NC has a few PM clinics. It might be worth the drive for you to go to Greenville. I only had to be seen every three months.

I do not personally know of any PM doctors in NC. Your best bet would be to ask your doctor, any one of them to refer you to a pain management doctor. That is deefnatly what you need at this point. You need to be on an extended release medication for your pain as it is a chronic condition and it will control your pain much better.
When you do see the PM doctor explain everything that is going on and make sure you descibe your pain and how it does affect your quality of life. Chrinic pain is a disease just like any other disease and needs to be treated accordinly. You will most likley need to sign a contract with your PM doctor and when you do read it and abide by it religiously!
You need to talk to your doctors and get the referral and go from there. there is a site called raceagainstpain.com that use to list good pain doctors but I am not sure if they still do. I know that the American pain foundation does have a list of PM doctors on their site. as well as other informaton you may need.
Good luck and I hope you will stay with us and keep us posted:)
