Sorry I missed one part of your question. Backhurtz is correct that the doctor is giving you dilaudid to take instead of the Oxycodone. That being said, you might want to call and ask what he or she wants you to do if they were not clear about it. Most times when I change meds my doctor gives me a written plan that entails reducing the drug I was on while at the same time increasing the drug he now wants me to take until I am completely switched over to the new drug. Then any old drug I have left I would destroy. If in doubt, please call and ask. That's what you pay them for. Hope it all works out great for you!
You doctor provided the dilaudid in place of the oxycodone, so you are supposed to replace the oxycodone with the dilaudid and dispose of the oxycodone.
I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. Received oxycodone manufactured by Camber and got deathly sick from it. My pharmacy actually orders the manufacturer that works for me which is Actavis.
I Also Take Dilaudid as a last resort and it works well. I don't think you will have any issues with withdrawals. If it does not work out, you can always ask your pharmacist to order the oxycodone that once worked for you. Best of luck.
Actually you can take the whole tab no problem....missed the 20mg part at first glance. You will not have any problems or withdrawal
Oxycodone is weaker than hydromorphone (Dilaudid) you will be fine. However because it's stronger, maybe try 1/2 tab at first
