accute shoulder pain both sides

I recently developed accute pain in both shoulders, the pain is only there when I lift my arms or push against something, I did not injure my shoulders doing heavy work, the pain lasts from 5 to 20 seconds after it is triggered like a severe cramping feeling of pain

Hello Dan,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am so glad that you found us and took the time to post. I am sorry that you have bilateral shoulder pain.

Often this pain is associates with repetitive motion, like water skiing or a difficult steering machine like an old lawn mower. Have you been involved in any recent activities such as that or do you have a new position that requires repetitive motion?

Is the answer to that question is no than I look for an inflammation in the shoulder, maybe the bursae. Bilateral shoulder bursitis is not every common but it should be ruled out in my opinion.

As Sara suggested it could be possibly related to a spinal structural issue. An MRI of the shoulders or spine could rule these possiblities out. I wish we have definative answers for you. Unfortunately only your CPC can begin the diagnosis process.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. We will be looking forward to your updates. We ish you the very best of luck.

Please take care,
~Tuck

Hi Dan:  I would like to welcome you the Pain Management forum.  As you already know we are a community of chronic pain patients.  I wish there were a doctor at least monitoring this forum but there is not.  But we do offer support, advice and friendship to other chronic pain patients.

Although I am in no position to diagnose your pain, as it could be from any number of sources, as it is in both shoulders, cervical neck problems come to my mind.  Now that is an uneducated guess on my part.

You need to see your doctor.  This definitely needs to be looked into.  Perhaps an orthopedist or neurologist would be appropriate to diagnose this.

Please check back later for more replies.  I am certain the one of our members will be able to give you a better answer.  And we encourage you to stay on our forum for support, one of our specialties, and advice.

Good Luck and welcome,
Sara
