It's unusual that he is alergic (allergic) to Morphine and can take oxycontin as they are very close. Hydromorphone or oxymorphone are good and strong but also close to morphine. all the best
I am also allergic to IV MORPHINE, but have been taking oxycontin for about a year with no problems. Its not as uncommon as you think :-) but yes, Dilaudid is good substitute and may help his pain better.
