A(s)G(ood)A(s)I(t)G(ets) Club !!
Sorry to hear the news Tuck, I know you didn't need ANOTHER reason to stay in this club. :(
I'm so very sorry that the appointment didn't go as well as we all had hoped for you, Tuck. I wish there was more I could say or do - just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and hope they ARE able to keep you at least relatively comfortable.
I am very glad, at least, though that you are not in any immediate, life threatening danger.
I am so sorry Tuck, I know you was really wishing it could be takin out so you can not be in so much pain. My thoughts go out to you, you have been thru so much and I really wish you would of gotten good news today cause you deserve it. I am here if you need to vent.
I am so sorry and my thoughts are with you
Jamie
Thank You so very much Sherry for posting the warm and wonderful message. And a huge thank you to all our members for your comforting words, prayers and support. You cannot know how much this means to me.
I was not one seen by one surgeon, five additional surgeons (several in varying degrees of training) were physically in that room along with three nurses.
The good news is that I am not in any medical emergency situation that would require a life threatening surgery. That is great news!
The bad news is that I have injured the tissues that have been holding me together for almost twenty years. I'll try to streamline what he said. Whatever "structure" developed after the extreme internal trauma and following repairs and healing has been damaged. There are probably multiple tiny rips and structures were rearranged. As you know this occurred while lifted and repositioned my father during his final days.
The surgeons theory is that not only is there structural damage but the nerves are also damaged and probably compromised by this tissue and/or structural movement. I hope I am making sense. He believes that there is really nothing anatomically that can be done to repair this newest damage. He said it, "Even going in to 'take a look' could very well put you in trouble that I could not get you out of." He said that repeatedly and they all agreed with him.
I asked what he would do if I were his sister. He said, "Get you some good pain management. Make sure that you are as comfortable as you can possibly be." I said so this is as good as it gets. He said, "I'm afraid that is true." He was a very nice surgeon that took a lot of time. He answered all my questions. He thanked me for allowing them all to see me and "learn." He said I was probably the most complex patient he had every met.
So my dear friends in chronic pain I am left where many of you are. I have just added one more reason for chronic pain, only this one has taken any wind there was out from under my sails. It will take awhile for me to mentally adjust and accept this but as with you, I have no choice.
I am grateful for the blessing that at least for now this will not jeopardize my life. Learning how to live with this will be a challenge. However I have a great physician and we will work through this one too. Now I am going to rest for awhile.
Before I go I just want to again Thank You All so very much. You are the best group of supportive and caring friends that anyone could hope for!
With Sincere Gratitude,
~Tuck
