I have not gotten the xrays done. I don't know if it is getting better or I'm just not thinking about the pain so I don't notice it that much. I am trying to wait until He is better to get them done, if it is getting better I won't even have it done.
I am going to try to put some of the meds in his next icy to see if he will notice. I am sure he will and get really mad at me but atleast I tried. The surgery center called today and said I really need to push his meds cause he don't need to suffer any more then he has too. I gave him a bath and he kept falling asleep in the bathtub so we went and layed down for a hour nap. Well he did I layed there awake listening to him breathe. He can't breathe out of his nose now and he is snorning again which is driving him nuts. It is normal, it will be like that for another 3 to 5 days and he isn't happy about it cause he isn't aloud to blow his nose cause it will only make it bleed. I asked about his speech and she said he might be swollen and that is why he is talking weird. if it don't get better by the end of the week to call his surgern. Thanks for his "hug" he loves hugs.

I forgot to ask, did you get your x-rays done? Was that yesterday? Hope they are done so you can get some answers for you too.
Take care...Sherry
I'm so glad that he had a good night. That helps him so much. As you know it's so much worse when they don't have a good night and don't feel well.
I love his comment about he is not moody today because he could sleep. That's so cute!!
It's really good that he is eating and drinking. If you need to get his meds into him you might try doing what I do with my 9 years old autistic granddaughter, I put them in her food. If it's a liquid you could put it into some pudding or if it's a pill you could crush it and mix it in and if it's a capsule, open it up and put it in. I have to do this with Raegan's meds every meal as she is on soooo many.
Please give him a "hug" from this Grandmother and tell him I'm so glad he's had a good night and is doing so well.
Be sure to take care of yourself. When he rests please try to get some rest yourself.
Take care and We'll all be waiting for another update later!!! Sherry
Austin had a good night last night, I thought for sure he would be up every hour or 2 like he was yesterday but he slept all night so he did need that rest. He says he is not moody today cause he was able to sleep all night and not snore and wake up. He is still in alot of pain but won't take his meds. He only wants to eat and drink to make the pain better so that is a good thing. He is eating and drinking alot so that is what he needs to do. I am going to talk to the nurse when she calls today to check up on him to see if the speech is normal. He had alot of family come over yesterday to check on him. Which is fine as long as they don't bring any kids with him cause he isn't aloud to be around kids cause of the germs. He is doing so much better then I thought he would be doing today but it is still soon after his surgery so the pain can come back bad. They said the 5th day after surgery alot of the kids have alot of pain so it isn't over yet. Thanks for your kind words they mean alot.

I'm glad to hear that the surgery is over and he did well with it. His throat will definitely be sore for at least several days, so yes, icies will definitely be one of his best friends for a while. They're good too because they do double duty - they not only help soothe the throat because they're cold, but they also get some much needed fluids into him which he may be reluctant to take in other ways. Trying to drink can be a bit painful, but with the icies he can just kind of let them melt in his mouth and trickle down his throat.
Some of the change in his voice and weird talking could be from a combination of pain and swelling. Think about how your own voice sounds differently when you have a sore throat. Most of it should just be temporary.
I remember when I had my tonsils and adenoids out at age 7 (back in 1970 - UGH!) - I remember when I woke up I was scared because the sheet on my gurney was covered with blood. I don't know why, but for some reason, they didn't put a fresh sheet on the gurney before putting me on it - or maybe they had and I had just had some bleeding whie I was still sleeping - but anyway - it was a pretty scary way to wake up frm anesthesia!
I'm glad they gave him something to drink before taking him back - I'm sure it made it much easier for them to be able to administer the anesthesia. Back when I had mine done, they came into the room about an hour before surgery time and gave me a shot in teh leg of something. I don't remember what it was, but it did help to relax me a little, but didn't "put me out". Back then, too, you had to stay at the hospital overnight the night before surgery - boy have things changed!!! Now it's same day surgery!
give him lots of love and kisses and spoil him for a while -he deserves it!! I'm sure once he's healed from surgery, he'll notice a big difference in his energy level, ability to play his baseball and also his sleeping.
Keep us posted!
Thanks for letting us know how your son's surgery went. It's scary when they are so little and in pain and you feel so helpless.
The best part is the worst is over. He won't have to suffer with those tonsils anymore. Even as a four year old I remember that releif. I am sure he'll feel the same way soon.
Ices will be his best friend for awhile. So have plenty on hand.
You hang in there and get some rest. As Sherry said we'll be looking forward to future updates.
Take Care,
~Tuck
I'm so relieved that everything is over and you are all at home. I know it is so rough to have to watch your baby in pain but just know how much easier his life will be without those tonsils.
You be sure to take care of yourself also because he's going to need you!
I'll be checking on here for further updates. I'm looking forward to hearing how he does in his first game in 10 days.
Take care...Sherry
