dates on the med bottle?

I go to see my pain management dr once every two months.  Everytime I go, he counts my remaining meds, gives me a new script for the month and post dates a script for the following month.  I sometimes drop my script off at the pharmacy a day or two early so it will be ready the day I need it.  The pharmacy tends to fill the script the day I drop it off so the dates overlap. (understand?!)  My question is, do the drs count the meds from the day that's on the medication bottle or the day I started taking them which is usually a few days past the date on the bottle.  I guess that would mean I have extra?!   Of course it's no big deal because they've never said anything about my counts being off, I was just wondering.
Thanks! :)

Each doctor is different.  My doctor opens the bottle, looks at the calendar and guesses how many are in the bottle

Hi Valavala,

I am not treated at a PM Clinic. I know that physicians count other medications based on the date that they were filled. So I could imagine that your PMP is going by the fill date unless you are telling him that it was filled early.

Hope this helps. Others will post and may have a different response.

Take Care,
Tuck
