Anyone do Biofeedback

I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on biofeedback.  I have severe migraines and a failed back surgery. I have always wondered if it might help my migraines some. I don't have anything to loose. The doctors are at a blank as to what to do.  My migraines pretty much stay out of control no matter what meds i am on.  Thanks to anyone that can help!!!

Welcome to MedHelp. I am glad you found us. We all have varying degrees of chronic pain and have supportive members with good information and suggestions.

I haven't had bio-feed-back but I know people that have had it. I think it works well about 25% of the time, fair about 40% of the time and little or nothing at all 35%. I feel that anything that may work and will not harm you is worth a try.

Please keep us updated. We would be interested on what you think about it and how well it works for you. Take care, Tuck

I too have done bio feed back but to know if it will help you personally you will have to try and see. Like you say you have nothing to lose if it does help you have something that will help you and if not well you haven't lost anything.

I was hooked up to electrode things that measured my bodies reaction and listened to music and relaxation tapes in a recliner in a darkened room.  yes it is mostly relaxation/visualization

Thank you for the info.  So what all  is involved in this method?  Is it mostly relaxation?

I have tried biofeedback for migraines but it's been a long time.  I was younger and I was not as open to something like that helping me as I may be now.  When I was younger I just wanted to take a pill and get rid of the pain even though that never worked that great either.  I think it's always worth a try for anyone that has never tried it and can afford it.  You have to be open to alternative therapies mentally for it to work well though.  I have heard many people say that it works as well as you let it.  Good luck
