Thanks for posting the link to this  2013 article. It is my sincere belief that this happens far more than is ever reported. Since the "war on Drugs" has really become the War on Chronic Pain Patients - our pain is even more untreated, under diagnosed - and just plain ignored. Hearing so called compassionate medical providers telling patients that they must just "learn to live with it" is common and totally inhumane. There arrogant stances results in many many **** Trickles than are ever reported.

In 2013 this article (in the very good National Pain Institute Report) contained this comment.
Begin Quote: "“We can and must do better,” said Dr. Bennett. “Our medical schools must think about how to prepare the physicians of tomorrow with the right formal training to be able to tackle the complexity of pain.”
End Quote.

Those are very notable words - encouraging words but I wonder what steps have been taken to see that those words come to florishen?

Suicide is never the answer - it's not the way out. If any of us ever feel that way we need to reach out to one another - or someone that can help. Mr, Trickle can now never be helped - don't let that happen to anyone here. We're in this together - and here for one another.

You're so right fntn - Where has pain management gone? Sadly the DEA, FDA and other governmental agencies are doing their best to limit opiate therapy for all ppl - even those that have no other options. We must all do what ever we can to make our voices and needs known and heard. We must act where we can. Write your elected officials, sign petitions, etc. -  and join in the protest of the inhumane treatment of chronic pain patients.

Together we need to join forces and get this pendulum to swing back for better care and treatment for ppl trying to deal with chronic pain. My best to all of you. Hang in my friends in pain!

I can't being to express how horrible I feel for his family knowing it could have been avoided with help.  People that are unable to find a doctor that will work with them to manage there pain suffer needlessly, mostly because of the system now.  Unfortunately that seems to be the way of the world now.  Even my doctor who I am very thankful to have , makes sure my pain is just managed (4-5), but only at a sedate level. It is not her responsibility to make sure I have a "normal"  life, eg.,can excersize, take walks, bike rides, or anything else. I am Catholic so I would never contemplate suicide, but there were plenty of days I wished I wouldn't wake up.
There is one thing that the chronic pain has done for me and that is brought me closer to God, I couldn't have done it without him. And now believe or not  MedHelp has helped so much knowing I am not out here alone has help, all the care and support from members is a wonderful help. Thank you everyone.
