Horrible Pain Flare, What Do I Do?

I'm having a really bad flare, I don't know what to do.  I couldn't sleep at all last night and I vomited earlier because of the pain.  I don't want to go to the ER because they've always been rude to me.  I'm a little nervous to call my doctor, IDK what to do!

I am so sorry that you are experiencing a horrid pain flare. I agree that you should contact your prescribing physician. Mine has actually hospitalized me on two occasions to get the pain under control and stop the pain cycle.

Best of luck, make the call and let us know how you are doing.

You need to call your doctor and let him/her know what's going on - you shouldn't feel nervous about contacting them - that's what they are there for.  It could be you need a medication adjustment or change or addition to get you through this flare, but DO NOT ADJUST YOUR MEDICATION ON YOUR OWN - don't do anything like that without discussing it with your physician first.

In the meantime, I sometimes find that a nice, very warm (not too hot) shower or bath can help ease the pain a little bit - at least for a while.  I myself find that if I make it too hot, it can make things worse, same as if it's too cold - so extremes are not good - at least for me.  It doesn't necessarily reduce the pain, but I do find sometimes laying in bed listening to some relaxing music helps.  I guess by listening to the relaxing music it helps me to not tense up so much when I am feeling the severe pain.  Tensing definitely makes things worse.

Just to let you know, also, I too sometimes get vomiting when my pain gets really bad.  I guess it's our body's way of telling us that it can't handle the stress of the pain.

I hope you get some relief soon!
