The Sciatica Nerve runs all the way from your the bottom of your skull to your heel. I am a LMT and work with them on a daily basis and have been able to give lasting relief. It just takes a therapist who has had experience with it to know what to do. As long as it is worked from the heel to the head in all one long unraveling motion it will work. It needs to be done for 10 - 15min. each session and it will take a few times but then should be o.k.

Actually a doctor is the only one who can order a MRI or CT scan to determine the root cause of your pain. Get a referral to neurology or neurosurgery. The pain down your legs could be caused by sciatica and if so it spawns from a disc in your low back that is impinging on the sciatic nerve.
I will admit that my problem is covered up with pain meds and epidural injections because I do not wish to have surgery at this time.
Massage therapists could never penetrate the muscle tissue deep enough to provide any lasting relief. Instead of massage therapy, I do self accupressure with a theracane that provides more relief for a longer amount of time and it's free (after you buy the theracane of course!). :)

very true but...also sciatica muscle also may be the reason and if it is related to any of that go to a massage therapist not a doctor. They will only give you a muscle relaxant and/or pain releivers and send you home with the problem still there just covered up.
It could be caused by a back problem, arthritis in the hip, leg-length discrepancy, or perhaps even a tight psoas muscle. So see a doctor.
