Does weaning off oral Dilautid cause elevated BP and PULSE?

I have been on Dilautid for several months due to excrusiating pain from Lupus. I recently began weaning off by 4 mg per week. I haven't experienced any withdrawals but have had a spike in blood pressure and heart rate over the past three weeks. On Tuesday, my BP spiked to 216/129 P 117. My cardiologist increased my BP med which seems to be helping but it is still high when I wake up in the morning and my heart rate is in the 90's and low 100's even at rest.
